In the first half of 2026, global financial markets remained resilient despite geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, delivering positive returns overall amid heightened volatility. Against this backdrop of rapidly changing market conditions, LGT delivered a very good result for the period, supported by its established global presence, a prudent approach to growth, and cost discipline. The figures for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Private Advice business, acquired in June 2025, are not reflected in the results for the prior-year period.

Income from services, by far LGT's largest revenue contributor, rose to CHF 1.00 billion, up 7 % compared with the first half of 2025. This was primarily driven by the higher asset base and robust client activity. Income from trading activities and other operating income, as well as net interest income, remained largely stable at CHF 325.9 million (up 1 %) and CHF 156.6 million (down 2 %), respectively. Overall, the Group’s total operating income rose 5 % to CHF 1.49 billion.

Total operating expenses increased moderately by 2 % to CHF 1.09 billion in the first half of 2026. Personnel expenses accounted for CHF 867.0 million, representing an increase of 2 %. The number of full-time equivalents (FTEs) increased by 62 compared with year-end 2025. Business and office expenses declined 1 % to CHF 221.6 million. Depreciation, amortisation and provisions fell 5 % to CHF 60.7 million. The cost-income ratio improved to 73.3 % as at the end of June 2026, compared with 76.8 % as at year-end 2025.

Group profit rose 17 % to CHF 281.6 million in the first half of 2026. LGT is very well capitalised with a CET1 capital ratio of 18.0 % as at 30 June 2026, and has a high level of liquidity.

Assets under management exceed CHF 400 billion for first time

In the first half of 2026, LGT recorded organic net new asset inflows of CHF 12.3 billion, representing a strong annualised growth rate of 6.4 %. Both the private banking and asset management businesses contributed to this result. Assets under management rose 7 % in the first half of 2026, reaching CHF 412.6 billion – the highest level in LGT’s history. This increase was driven by the net asset inflows, strong market and investment performance, and positive currency effects.

Outlook

LGT remains confident for the remainder of the year, although geopolitical developments and financial market conditions continue to be difficult to predict.

LGT’s focus remains on consolidating and strengthening its position in existing markets worldwide, as well as realising synergies and economies of scale from its investments in growth and technology. Its recent expansion initiatives across established and growth markets in Europe, Australia and Asia are progressing well and contributing to LGT’s performance. In Hong Kong, where LGT ranks among the largest private banks, the Group is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, while in Japan, LGT Private Banking has now been present for five years. LGT Capital Partners recently strengthened its venture capital platform with the addition of the core team of Sapphire Partners, which also expanded its presence in the US.

The Group also continued to invest in its home market of Liechtenstein. In April 2026, it opened its new building in Vaduz, designed to accommodate 240 workstations. The timber-framed building meets the highest international environmental certification standards (LEED Platinum and SNBS Gold).

H.S.H. Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein, Chairman LGT, says: "With our very good results for the first half of 2026, LGT is continuing on its successful trajectory. Following the targeted growth investments made in recent years, our focus is on consolidating our presence in our existing markets worldwide and consistently leveraging the benefits of our international platform. As a family-owned company, we plan with the next generation in mind. With this long-term perspective, we continue to invest in our advisory and investment expertise, our digital capabilities and our talented employees, as well as in innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients."
