Indian equity markets erased the gains accumulated in the early trading hours and closed
on a flat note ahead of the Karnataka assembly election. Investors are looking ahead for
the US inflation data which will provide further clues on the upcoming monetary policy.
Further, disappointed China trade data also added volatility in the market. However,
sustained support from foreign institutional investors restricted the losses.
